SPIRO

This is a funny tale about a spider and his determination to search for some good food. 

Spiro is hungry! Hungry for a juicy fly, a scrumptious moth or a crunchy stink bug.

With perseverance, weaving through his web, he finally catches one lucky break, just in time for dinner.

The illustrations are colourful, fun and bold. SPIRO the spider looks good in pink!

This is a Children's Book of The Year Award Shortlisted Book for 2025 and you can find this new read in our BPS Library.

BOOK AN ADVENTURE WITH ROALD DAHL!

BOOK WEEK, DRESS-UP DAY AND THE BOOK FAIR !

Today we celebrated Book Week and dressed up as Roald Dahl characters.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, James and The Giant Peach, George's Marvellous Medicine, The Witches, and The Twits are just some of the many great reads and Roald Dahl book characters we embraced. 

Did you see Fantastic Mr FOX? 

Did you notice The BFG and those ears?

Beware of the spider! It's still in the office but very friendly!

Willy Wonka has been travelling around the school and all golden tickets have been found!

Those Oompa Loompas, they were everywhere!

Charlie's grandparents were found in Gr 5 & Gr 6 in their pyjamas!

Charlie is still celebrating his chocolate golden ticket win!

And Violet the Blueberry needs to shrink to get back to work!

THANK YOU to the BPS community for a wonderful effort on BOOK DAY! 

There was lots of phizz-whizzing, dazzling  and scrumdiddlyumptious costumes by everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lucky for you all, we are already planning next years' theme!

PREMIERS' READING CHALLENGE 2025

15 DAYS OF READING TO GO!

We are now on our way to the end of the Challenge!

Well done Readers!

Brighton Primary School is very excited once again to be a Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge School.

Students now have access to their NEW individual username and passcodes to login. 

Come see us during your Library session, we will give you your unique username and passcode login details.

 Last year's login details will not work!!!

All students across Prep to Year Six have been registered and are welcome to join the Premiers’ Reading Challenge.

It's not too late to READ AND RECORD YOUR BOOKS!!!!!!!!!!! 

How to log in online:

1. Go to the Challenge application at: https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home
2. Select the Student button.
3. Select the VPRC login option.
4. Enter your username and passcode
5. Select Login

A series of links to help you navigate the challenge site can be accessed on the Department of Education website (including adding books, such as home readers or eBooks) can be accessed at: https://www.vic.gov.au/premiers-reading-challenge

It is also recommended that books are entered progressively onto the system throughout the Challenge. The school Coordinator will verify books throughout the Challenge, which will be done on a weekly basis, but please keep in mind that the system updates overnight.

To be successful in the challenge you must complete the following requirements:

• Prep, Gr 1 - 2  You are to read 30 books in total ( 20 or more from the Challenge list).
• Gr 3 – 6 You are to read15 books in total (10 or more from the Challenge list).

Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 students can read independently or ‘experience’ books for the Challenge. ‘Experience’ a book can include a shared reading, listening, reading along and being read to by teachers, aides, family members, or other students.

Please can you search for any overdue BPS books around your homes, cars, schoolbags etc.

There are many popular missing books from the library shelves that we would love to see returned.
