NAPLAN 2025

Murrumbeena Primary School was thrilled with our outstanding 2025 NAPLAN results, which reflect the consistently high-quality teaching and learning that is in our classrooms.
While schools track NAPLAN results in many ways, two key measures we focus on are:
- Student achievement by proficiency level – There are four categories of NAPLAN achievement: Exceeding, Strong, Developing, and Needs Additional Support. MPS aims for a high percentage of students in the Exceeding category.
- Student growth between Years 3 and 5 – categorised as High, Medium, or Low growth. MPS aims for a high percentage of students in the medium and high growth categories.
Student Performance by Proficiency Level Year 3:
- Reading – 48% Exceeding (highest in our network)
- Writing – 33% Exceeding (highest in our network)
- Numeracy – 50% Exceeding (highest in our network)
Year 5:
- Reading – 45% Exceeding (highest in our network)
- Writing – 39% Exceeding (2nd highest in our network)
- Numeracy – 45% Exceeding (highest in our network)
Student Growth from Year 3 to Year 5:
- Reading – 86% High or Medium growth (3rd highest in our network)
- Writing – 90% High or Medium growth (highest in our network)
- Numeracy – 95% High or Medium growth (highest in our network)
While we are proud of these achievements, it’s important to remember that NAPLAN is only one measure of a school’s success. We also track a wide range of social, academic, cultural, and wellbeing indicators. Additionally, the nature of formal testing does not always allow every student to fully demonstrate their knowledge and skills.
That said, NAPLAN offers a consistent national benchmark and valuable data on how our educational programs are meeting student needs by comparison to State and Federal norms, along with network and similar schools. Although the tests are taken in Years 3 and 5, results reflect the collective impact of teaching and learning across all year levels.
Congratulations to all our Year 3 and Year 5 students on their excellent results, and to our dedicated teaching teams for their ongoing commitment to supporting every learner at Murrumbeena Primary School.
