Term 3 - Week 4

No Way to Bullying

Today, we wore a splash of purple to show our support for " Bullying No Way" Week.

This small gesture is part of a larger movement to stand united against bullying in all its forms. By wearing purple, we demonstrate our commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for everyone. It’s a reminder that kindness, empathy, and courage can make a real difference. Together, we say: no way to bullying .

Let's Talk

This week, our Let’sTALK mentors spoke at assembly to introduce the program and explain their role.

The Let’sTALK Program aims to create a school environment where everyone feels safe to speak up by fostering psychological safety across the entire school community. Psychological safety is essential for effective learning and empowering student voice. Without it, relationships, resilience, and academic outcomes can all be negatively affected.

Let’sTALK is an evidence-based, preventative and early intervention program endorsed by psychologists. In its initial trial, the program led to significant improvements in students feeling protected, supported, and encouraged. It also showed positive results in increasing student comfort in seeking help, support from teachers, and overall student wellbeing.

Staff School Visits – A Valuable Learning Experience

On Wednesday, August 13th, all staff participated in school visits as part of our ongoing work towards achieving the goals outlined in our Annual Implementation Plan and Professional Learning Cycle. These visits provided valuable insights and supported reflection on key elements of the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. Common themes that emerged included the importance of enabling learning through consistent routines, calm and focused learning environments, the use of explicit teaching, and regular checks for understanding. Staff found the experience to be highly beneficial, with rich discussions during reflection sessions further reinforcing the learning.

Science WEEK

Our school celebrated Science Week with an exciting wildlife incursion for all students. Classes had the opportunity to get up close with a variety of fascinating animals, sparking curiosity (and bravery!). This special event supported our Science program by building students’ knowledge and understanding of biological sciences and encouraging them to make connections between their learning and the natural world. Science Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the great learning taking place in our classrooms and foster the next generation of scientists.

NEXT WEEK

Indonesian Day Monday and Book Week Parade Friday

Join us this Monday as we celebrate Indonesian Day  to honour the rich heritage and traditions of Indonesia!

Come dressed in traditional Indonesian attire or in red and white, the proud colours of the Indonesian flag. Whether you choose to wear a batik shirt, kebaya, sarong, or simply sport the national colours.

We’re thrilled to welcome the Lestari Dance Group, who will be joining us for a special interactive dance performance with students during the day and again at Assembly for the community to enjoy!

Get ready to celebrate the magic of reading at our Book Week Parade, happening next Friday just after 9:00 am on the school oval!

Students are encouraged to come dressed as a character from their favourite book. Whether you're a wizard from Hogwarts, a superhero, a classic fairytale character, or an adventurous explorer we can’t wait to see your outfit.

Parents and carers are warmly invited to come along and cheer on the students.

Our  Kinder groups will have a parade inside the Kinder with some of our Junior students attending to cheer them on.

Somers Camp

Next week, we are excited to have 11 of our students attending the 9 day Somers Camp.

Held in a beautiful natural setting, Somers Camp offers a wide range of outdoor activities, team challenges, and learning opportunities that focus on personal development and resilience. It’s a fantastic chance for students to step outside their comfort zones, try new things, and create unforgettable memories.

We know our stduents  will make the most of this incredible opportunity. I will visit for lunch next week and families will also visit on the middle weekend. We look forward to hearing all about their adventures when they return.

We want our PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS to tell us what they think!

Our school is conducting the annual Parent Opinion Survey offered by the Department of Education and is seeking your feedback. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 18 August to Friday 19 September 2025.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones.

Information will come out shortly via Compass on Monday.
