Read - a - Thon
The Student Voice team is excited to announce the Hamilton Gray Street PS Read-A-Thon, a whole-school event to celebrate our love of reading and raise money to uplift our school library. This special day will take place on Friday the 29th of August, on the day of our Book Week celebrations.
A Read-A-Thon is a reading event where students are encouraged to read as much as they can — not just for fun, but for a great cause.
From 9:20am until 3:20pm, there will always be someone reading in our school library. Classes will take turns throughout the day so that every minute is filled with the sound of pages turning and imaginations growing. It’s a fun and meaningful way to highlight the power of reading and community. The Student Voice team have highlighted the library as a major area of attention.
Why are we doing it?
Our school library is a vital learning space. We want to transform it into a more engaging, inviting and inspiring place for students to read, learn and relax. All money raised will go toward:
- New books across a variety of genres and levels
- Comfortable furniture and seating
- Improved library resources
How it works:
- Students take home a sponsor form (attached).
- Family and friends donate to support the student’s participation in the Read-A-Thon.
- Students join in on a scheduled reading time in the library on the day.
- Sponsor forms and donations are returned to school.
Every cent raised goes toward improving our library!
This is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a way for students to take ownership of their learning environment and celebrate reading together. Thank you for supporting this Student Voice initiative and helping make our library the best it can be.
Sponsorship forms were sent home last week. Please return your sponsor forms by Friday 29th August.
Kind Regards,
The Student Voice TeamHamilton Gray Street Primary School
