Does Dinjerra ever stop? No way! It has been another fortnight of action. We have celebrated Book Week, with an incredible Book Parade, and decorated doorways for the Children’s Short Listed Books.
This week, we celebrated LOTE Spanish Day, where the students participated in a range of cultural activities. Thank you to all the students, families and staff who made these celebrations special by joining in the fun!
We have also had our 3-6 Junior School Councillors host our second Cake Stall. We raised a whopping $474.71 for fundraising! Our fundraising target for this year is $20,000, and funds will be going to outdoor seating and our second painting mural.
I would like to congratulate our selected Year 3-6 students who participated in our first ever District Athletics Day at Aberfeldie Track on Thursday 20th August. The feedback I received is that our students were cheering each other on, barracking hard and they showed optimism all day. I am so proud of them. We have a few students who have qualified for the next section of competition.
We have completed our 3 day School Review. I would like to thank our Leadership team for their contributions on the day: Catherine Robertson, Mark Catterson and Nazlia Edwards. We were led by an incredible reviewer and experienced principal, Trish Hyland. Nearby principals Ang Bervanakis and Emma Vasilevski were our challenge partners. The Department’s Senior Education Improvement Leader, Karen Harris was also part of the panel, with Hamish Doake, dad of Harry in 1/2 who attended in his role of school council president.
The process engaged with all of our community, our students, families and staff, and we were able to reflect on the success of the last 4 years of performance. As a whole panel, we shaped the next goals for the new Strategic Plan for 2026 to 2029. I am planning to share the review report and the data with the community when I receive it. In the meantime, I am very grateful for the staff, students and families of Dinjerra, where each member has been an important part of transforming our school into a community with high learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students.
We have sent out the generic link for the survey for parents and carers to complete. Please see Compass for the Generic PIN. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.
Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.
The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online until Friday 19 September 2025. The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. So far, we have 7% of our families who have completed the survey. Please share your feedback with us!
The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.=

Thank you to the families who have been able to pay their Voluntary Parent Payments already. This has allowed us to provide necessary materials, resources and subscriptions for our students. Whilst the payments are voluntary, the payments make a big difference to the functioning of our school. If you are able to make payment, please do so via Compass, or contact the office. Payment plans are also available.
If you would like further details of the parent payments and the policy, please visit our website link: DPS Parent Payment page.
