5/6N

Welcome back to 5/6N!

We have enjoyed an excellent start to Term 3! We are back into the swing of things, working hard and learning lots across all areas of the curriculum. Here are some of the things we have been up to lately:

Literacy:

In Literacy this term, we have a history focus and have started the term off by learning about the Gold Rush! The students have loved using their prior knowledge from their camp at Sovereign Hill to support their learning thus far. This is one of the activities that the students completed last week. They were challenged to use their mapping skills and locate where gold has been found all across Australia!

Numeracy:

In Numeracy this term, we have been learning about Chance. We have looked at dependent and independent events as well as representing the probability of an outcome as a fraction, decimal and percentage.  We have thoroughly enjoyed the game 'Playing with a Full Deck'.

Parliament incursion:

Towards the end of last term, we had a Parliament Incursion with Linked Incursions. The students revised Democracy, the voting system in Australia and the three levels of government. The students then participated in a Federal Parliament role play.
