It has been yet another wonderful week of exciting learning experiences here at Fitzroy North Primary School. The build continues to move closer to completion, we are all set to commence The Block re-surfacing works over the September holidays and we now have official approval from the VSBA to move forward with our Junior School Playground Project! 2025.
Congratulations to all of our Years 5 and 6 students who participated in the Regional Debating Tournament earlier this week. With our teams defending their 2023 State Champions title, our three teams yet again, were an outstanding representation of the talent and tenacity of our FNPS students. Both a right and left brain activity, debating requires students to approach topics with a balance pragmatism and creativity; something our students were able to do with ease. We even received a text message from a colleague from another school during the day singing the praises our students’ performances.
I would like to thank both Hannah and Joe for preparing and supervising the students in the regional competition. Watch this space for more information on our State Champion title defence later this year.
Last Friday marked the Department of Education’s closing date for Prep 2024 enrolments. First round offers have been communicated to prospective families throughout this week, and a number of events are planned for the remainder of the year to support the transition to school process.
If you or someone you know are wanting to enrol at FNPS for next year, please contact the office for an enrolment pack and ensure you submit your application as soon as possible so that we can ascertain a clear understanding of our numbers for next year as we begin forward planning for 2024.
Yes, that time of year has come around again. From Monday 5th August, through to Friday 30th August, around 30% of our families will be randomly selected to participate in the 2024 Parent Opinion Survey. For those families who are randomly selected, we hope that you take the time to participate so that we are able to gain an understanding of our community’s views and help us shape decisions for the future. The survey does not take too long to complete and we really appreciate you taking a moment to provide us with your feedback.
We would like to extend our thanks to the families who have spent time (and money) throughout this year donating to the FNPS Student Support Fund. This fund is used to ensure all children are provided with the opportunity to participate in incursions, excursions, camps, the swimming program and concert among many other opportunities. We can’t thank you enough for your support!
Earlier this week, our Parent / Carer / Teacher interviews were held. These interviews were a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child/ren’s current learning progress, along with their future academic and personal / social goals. These meetings also allow for conversations about Individual Education Plans (if applicable) and other support mechanisms in place by the school to ensure that we are optimising your child’s learning experience.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families who attended these interviews and encourage any families who were unable to attend to reach out to your child’s teacher to arrange a time.
Have a wonderful, restful weekend everyone!
Go gently,
Tania
