Year 7 Winter Experience

The aim of the Winter Experience program is for students to experience an alpine environment and to develop winter survival skills, outdoor focussed decision-making, risk management skills, organisation and self-management.

  • Wednesday 31 July - Mott and Walker
  • Thursday 1 August - Backhouse and Oats
  • Friday 2 August - Fry and Penn

Departing Bell Street at 8.30am

Collected from Bell Street at 3.30pm

Students will spend the day on Kunanyi/Mt Wellington for an introduction to alpine winter walking and snow survival skills.

As students may well be exposed to harsh conditions it is essential they have suitable clothing, footwear and food. Please note that road closures are highly likely and there may be significant walking to get to snow. Please keep this in mind when choosing clothing for the day. If weather conditions are deemed to be unsatisfactory then students will participate in an alternative activity.

Year 7 Connections Day

  • Friday 30 August - Penn and Fry

Students depart from school at approximately 8.30am and will return to school near the end of the day where they will be dismissed from Middle School Campus.

All students will need to wear their sports uniform (no jewellery) and ensure that they are wearing appropriate footwear for sports participation. Additionally, they will need a packed recess and lunch, a large drink, a bucket hat and a warm top.  Students who require medication for any medical condition, including asthma and allergies, are reminded to bring this with them.

Students will be undertaking all activities under the supervision of specialised staff. Please complete the Operoo permission below prior to the excursion date.
