Animation

Year level: 4

In Year 4 Animation, students will explore the 12 Principles of Animation. They will get opportunities to create short animations as they learn each of these principles and why they are used. For example, the squash and stretch technique is applied to give a sense of weight or flexibility to objects such as a bouncing ball. They will apply these skills in three ways: they will apply free-hand drawing to create flipbooks, digitally create pieces through FlipaClip which will allow them to manipulate the speed of their work and explore animation through photography and real-life objects by using Stop Motion to make fixed objects used. We will also explore the important art of storytelling in animation to create a multimedia story.
