From the Principal

Principal: Mathew Montebello

Dear Families,

Would you believe that this is the 200th edition of the iNewsletter. The school moved to a digital newsletter for a range of reasons that include improving sustainable practices that don't require the printing of the newsletter and the ability to add a range of multimedia items into the newsletter. We know that removing hard copies of anything can be a challenge, but we appreciate the support for this switch over the years to make the newsletter more accessible.

Prep 100 days of school

Our prep students had a huge celebration last Friday as they celebrated their first 100 days of school. We had students dressed as grannies, grandpas and 100 bills. The students had a great day celebrating, and being involved in a broad range of activities.

Interschool Sports

All the best to our girls netball team that heads to the Regional Finals tomorrow in Geelong. This is a huge achievement already and we are so proud of the girls for their effort. I know that Lisa has really enjoyed dusting off the whistle, for coaching is a lot more fun than being stuck in the office with me.

Trivia Night

A huge congratulations to the Friends of Willy team who organised the trivia night last Saturday night. The night was a huge success raising almost $13,000 that will go towards indigenous education and resources at the school. What an amazing effort!

On top of the money raised, the night was well attended with attendees dancing the night away in their pop and rock costumes.

2025 Seaside Fair

Yes you did read that correctly, as plans for next year's fair have already commenced. Please keep an eye out for more information regarding this event and a call out for passionate volunteers.

Wellbeing Page

I just wanted to highlight the school’s wellbeing page and the information and resources that are located on the newsletter page. Each fortnightly newsletter the wellbeing team looks to provide the school community with a range of resources and information. This week’s page provides information on “Wear it Purple Day” and the”National Week Against Bullying”.

Student wellbeing is at the core of Williamstown Primary and our Willy Kids Culture, so we believe it is important to provide the community with a range of resources.

Reminders

Parent & Carers Opinion Survey

A reminder for all families to complete the 2024 parents/carers opinion survey.

Families should have received their 2024 Parent Opinion Survey and unique link and pin.

The information from this survey is highly valuable and is an essential part of the school’s strategic planning. Traditionally we have struggled to get a large percentage of families completing the survey, so we are asking families to please take the time to complete this one. Thanks for your support.

Warm regards,

Mat
