Principal's message
Book Week
What a wonderful celebration of literature we experienced last week at our Book Parade. Thank you to Mr McLeod for the organisation of the Book Week Parade, and to our staff, students and families for your support in dressing up as favourite book characters. It was spectacular to see so many costumes from Kindergarten to Year 6, and so many family members supporting the morning festivities.
Father's Day Stall
Thank you to our P&C and volunteers for a successful Father's Day Stall yesterday. Students were very pleased with their purchases and excited to be surprising their father, grandfather, uncle or special male role model in their lives on Sunday. I wish all those special men in our children's lives a lovely Father's Day for Sunday.
Racism in schools
Racism and racist behaviour are not tolerated in NSW public schools. Everyone in a NSW public school – learners, staff, parents, carers and community members – is expected to treat others fairly and with respect, and to behave in ways which do not promote racism in the school community.
This term I have received an increase in reports of students name calling that have racial undertones, which are leaving students feeling uncomfortable and offended. Students are expected to treat all members of the school community – staff, community members, and other students – fairly and with respect, and to behave in ways which do not promote racism.
Ms Zanetti is our Anti-Racism Contact Officer (ARCO) trained to support students in understanding the impact of their comments or actions where there is a racist undertone. If your child is experiencing racism at school, you should encourage them to report it to a teacher or Ms Zanetti, or you can report it on your child’s behalf.
If you have experienced racism at school, you may make a complaint to the school. Ms Zanetti may provide you with assistance if you need it.
SASS Appreciation Week Monday 2nd - Friday 6th September
During Week 7 our school will be celebrating the fantastic SASS staff that assist in keeping our school running, as we couldn’t function without the work and dedication of them all. Please take time out of your week to say a big 'THANK YOU' to our SASS staff for they work they do to support our students, staff and community.
