Newlands Athletics Carnival 2024
Dear parents/caregivers,
We are very excited to inform you about our upcoming Athletic Carnival on Friday, 2nd August at the Harold Stevens Athletic Track. The event will run from 9:30am to 2:30pm and promises to be a day filled with fun, competition and school spirit.
All students must wear their house colours. Depending on the weather, please ensure your child has a hat, sunscreen or a rain jacket. Students must bring a small bag with their lunch box, snacks and a bottle of water, so they don't need to carry their entire school bag.
Drop off will be as usual at school at 9:00am. Grades 3-6 students will walk together to the track with their classroom teachers at 9:10am. Foundation, Grades 1 and 2 students will stay at school in the morning and walk to the track at 11:00am.
On this day, Foundation students will be celebrating their 100 Days at School in the morning (please refer to Foundation section in the Newsletter for dress-up details). At the end of the day, all students will return to school and pick-up will be as usual at 3:30pm from their classrooms.
Parents and caregivers are encouraged to come and cheer on our students throughout the day. Your support always makes a significant difference and help to create a vibrant and encouraging atmosphere.
As role models for our children, it's important to promote physical activity and exercise as a way to improve wellbeing and stay healthy. Following the success of last year’s teacher/parent race, I am excited to announce that we will have the race again this year! And students will join in too! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to set a positive example.
Last, students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 who place 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their events (shot put, long jump, discus and races) will be invited to represent Newlands Primary School at the SSV Coburg District Athletics Championships on Wednesday, 7th August.
Yours faithfully,
Raul Berral - Health and PE Teacher
