Grade 2 Police visit

Last Friday we had a special visitor come to the Grade 2’s. Senior Constable Felicity from the Northcote police station came and spoke to the grade 2’s about her role in the community. She said that maps are important for the police because people that work at the police station can see who was closest to get to the problem. Cate 2A

I learned, I thought it was a giant stick and the police officer said that it was a little metal bar thing that you could hit against a door or a window to help people.

I learned that no one could take the firearm out of the police officer’s holster, it is all locked in. Katiya 2A

If burglars are dangerous, they use their pepper spray. James 2B

They use the baton to break windows if someone is stuck and to knock on doors loudly if people can’t hear.  Avi 2B

Police keep us safe on the roads by keeping an eye out for people that are not following the law/rules. Iggy 2B

The vest that they wear weighs 15kg and it’s got plates at the front to protect the. – Angus 2B

They have the spray, firearm, torch, handcuffs, camera, radio, extra bullets, and extra torch all on their vest always. Oscar 2B

I learned that pepper spray can sting your eyes. I learned that handcuffs are very heavy. Harvey Taylor 2C

Today we talked to Felicity the Senior Constable Police officer. I learned that people use GPS maps to know when to go for their jobs.  Grace 2C
