Week 1 Term 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Term Three, and I sincerely hope you enjoyed the break with your children. This is an exciting term with the Year 4 Eucharist Celebration, many excursions and incursions planned across all year levels, a focus on National Bullying Week, Book Week, Feast of the Assumption and Experience Music recitals, just to name a few.

This week, we celebrate NAIDOC Week, a special time to honour and acknowledge the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme for this year's NAIDOC Week chosen by the National NAIDOC Committee, is Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud.

During NAIDOC Week, teachers and students will be engaging in various activities to celebrate and learn more about Indigenous cultures. These activities will help deepen our understanding and appreciation of the rich and diverse cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Let's all participate actively and respectfully to make the most of this important week!

Year 4 Eucharist Parent /Child Workshop

This Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., there is a compulsory parent/child faith workshop for all Year Four students. All students and one of two parents or carers are expected to attend. This is an important session in preparation for this special Sacrament your child will be receiving on Saturday, August 3rd, at 6:00 p.m.

Grandparents' Day -Friday July 26th

Grandparents or Special Person Day is a wonderful way to honour these important people in our lives.

We will begin our day with the whole school Mass at 9:15 a.m., followed by classroom activities and a morning tea prepared by the Parents and Friends committee. This is a great way to express gratitude and appreciation for the special role they play.

School Maintenance

Over the holidays, we have completed many repairs around the school. We topped up the three sandpits with fresh sand and mulch around the playground. In addition, we had all the loose boards repaired on all the wooden decking in Saunders, Hawthorn and Benny courts. Thank you to Anthony Zuccarelli from AltoNova Builders for assisting with all the maintenance work.

Schools require ongoing maintenance, and it is vital that all school fees are paid to assist with this ongoing cost and ensure that we keep the school looking great and safe for all our children.

Child Safe

The learning community of St. Fidelis is committed to the wellbeing and safety of all children. Our interactions with all our community are founded on respect for each person. Within a Catholic community, this respect for each individual is rooted in the belief that each person is made in the image and likeness of God.

Child Safe Standard 8: Child safety skills, knowledge and awareness

At St Fidelis' Catholic Primary School, there are many ways in which we, as a community, ensure that staff and volunteers are equipped with the knowledge, skills and awareness to keep children and young people safe through ongoing education and training.

All of the school's wellbeing and child safety policies are available online for all members of the community to freely access.  Staff are briefed yearly on expectations to report any concerns for child safety and the process that needs to be followed.  All staff must complete yearly mandatory reporting training to keep their knowledge and skills current.
