Respect, Inspire, Excel
Our Special Education team has been proudly demonstrating our College values of Respect, Inspire, and Excel. We congratulate the following students for their outstanding efforts and dedication, each receiving a certificate in recognition of their achievements.
As we enter the final week of our focus on “I will listen to messages carefully,” we look forward to seeing who will shine next.
Let’s all continue to embrace this focus and show respect by truly listening and engaging with one another.
Together, we can build a more inclusive and supportive College community.
Inspire – Listening to messages and following instructions.
Respect – Responsibility. We try our best in all learning tasks.
Inspire – Willingly undertaking the work in our new morning routine.
Excel – Listening to directions during lessons then completing his work.
Excel – Excitement and Engagement with learning.
Orange Room Report
Orange Room have been exploring the fascinating world of plants. We have grown broad beans, sprouted mung beans, and observed the development of roots on spider plants placed in jars of water. Once the roots were established, we transferred them into soil to continue growing.
During a walk around the school grounds, we discovered more than we anticipated—our goal was to find examples of deciduous and evergreen plants, but we were amazed by the variety of textures, colours, shapes, sizes, and scents throughout Seymour College. We also experimented with printing using fruit and vegetables and created vibrant “Guardians of the Garden” collages, which were proudly entered and displayed at the Seymour Show—some even received awards!

Purple Room Semester 2
During Term 3 we were learning about engineering and we enjoyed making structures and items using the MakeDo saws and cutters. We went to the Bendigo Discovery Centre with the other 3-4 students; what a great experience that was. Thanks Mrs Anderson for doing all the organising.
In week 2 of this term, we presented our engineering feats at assembly and we are proud of what we made. We continued to enjoy swimming and are eager for this to start next week. Some of us are enjoying riding at RDA and others are excited about the camp in December.
We also entered our Wooden Spoons at Seymour Show and Blaze and Patrick won 2nd and 3rd, and Madden made a pet rock with Ms Mac at Art Club and won 3rd. Summer showed her amazing acting talents at the impromptus play ‘Stages of Empathy’ and was a bit of a star!
We have a number of athletes in our class and at last Friday’s assembly we received our medals from Kristie, so we were jangling.
We are continuing to learn about our emotions, with Kim, and how we can do different things to help us remain calm.

Canine Comprehension
Seymour College have had the opportunity to run the Canine Comprehension program in the SM classroom of Special Education this term.
Canine Comprehension is a wellbeing and education program that uses therapy dogs to help students build communication, emotional regulation, empathy, and confidence. Through guided interactions with trained dogs, students explore how they communicate both internally (self-awareness and self-talk) and externally (interpersonal skills). The calm and supportive environment helps reduce anxiety, improve engagement, and strengthen emotional and social wellbeing.
The facilitators name is Sarah and the dogs names are Maise and Gruffalo.
