Brilliant Boys and Buddies Beat Baffling BeeBot Challenge!

STEM Education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is alive and well in the Foundation class, with our youngest students understanding a bit more about themselves, each other and the world in which they live. After completing Stem Challenges 1 and 2 (Paper Chain Challenge and Helicopter Rotor Challenge), students were confronted with a tiny invention, a cross between a robot and a bee, known as a Beebot. Each group was given a challenge of coding the Beebot to navigate a path from A to B. There was much excitement in the class as each group was able to successfully meet the challenge. So......., what's next?

Writing

The Foundation students continue their writing journey as they turn letter formation into words and sentences. It's an incredibly fascinating process to see unfold. Well done, kids!

Year 1

I can not believe we are already in week 3!

WRITING

Over the last few weeks we have been using images to spark ideas for our writing.

As a class we discussed what these images made us think of and what types of writing we could do. Here is some of their writing!

The man accidentally caught a shark. The man was sacred! Ada. C

One busy morning at the fish store a man went fishing with his son. They fed the shark every day. One day the kid was washed away. The sharks reconsidered the boy, so they brought him to their den. One day the kid grew up and found his father. Ada. H

It’s actually AI because sharks are not so big. Sharks are medium size so it might actually be AI or even a game. Kerthly

I went fishing with my mum and dad. We caught a big fish! And we ate it for our lunch. After that we went outside to catch another fat fish at the beach. YICHEN

A man went fishing on a jetty and caught a great white shark. The great white shark pulled the man off the jetty and the man fell into the ocean. Max

Year 2/3

We have a jam packed fun filled week of learning and laughter. The children are all becoming such independent learners and it is making us all so proud. The year 2’s worked hard this week learning about 2D and 3D shapes. They drew them, made them and manipulated them. The year 3 children had a special day that focused on team building and included: bowling, pottery, baking, outdoor activities, pizza and lots more. Year 3/4

Long Day Out

What a great day! We spent the morning at Wyncity Ten Pin Bowling in Thomastown. The excitement, the cheers, the words of encouragement and the celebration of every strike or spare was a sight to behold. The students were there supporting and encouraging each other, building friendships and relationships for the future.

A big thank you to the parents who came to help, the LSO's who supported the children and the teachers and to the teachers. We could not organise such a day without the support of all the adults who show up for the students. Well Done and Thank You.

When I went ten pin bowling it was fun,

I was with some of my friends. After when I

got my first strike and my team was celebrating

and I was happy. And every new round I kept

getting first and my best friend was getting second place. Back at school, I was playing with my friends. Then we made a clay plate.It was very fun.

I was very happy and I was playing again. Later we had fruit and lemon cordial. After this I got tired and I went home.

“Brrrr, Clank, Clank,” went the balls crashing down the pins. It was so fun bowling at Wyncity in Keon Park. I heard lots of people cheering and celebrating. At first, I didn’t get any strikes or spares and I was rolling the balls with the slidy thing. But then Abby taught me how to roll the bowling ball without the slidy thing, and then I got lots of strikes and spares, and I like bowling now. After the 2 games I was so exhausted and very, very hungry. The more I played it, it kind of got boring but it was still fun playing.

Fun Wyncity Bowling

“BOOM! HOORAY! 67!“

Went the crowd when Luke got his first strike. It was so fun bowling with some friends at Wyncity Bowling. When I saw Luke get his first strike I was so shocked. As I saw him play I learned how to get strikes or spares but sadly I didn’t get any strikes, but at least I got 2 spares. In my team there was Jaz, Jessica, Hanny, Aylah and Suzie. When Jaz got her first spare the rest of my team ( including me) ran to Jaz and hugged her and picked her up. Then Jaz won the first round and Hanny won the second round. As the other teams were bowling my whole team was shouting and screaming …. “67! 67! 67! 67!” Then other people joined, even MY DAD SAID “67!” Ooh now a funny part. When Viraj and Rayzon got a strike, my dad put his hand out for a high five but they didn’t see as they walked past. IT WAS SO FUN!!! I LOVED IT! By Tazlyn

Bowling

I got 117 points on the second round and got more than all of the other groups including my group. I got 2 strikes and some spares. One of the spares was at the end and I got another bowl.

We went back to school and did some moulding of clay. After, we had some food and played soccer. After that we went inside to watch a movie about Hermit crabs. Then we had pizza and then we went outside to have splits. It was tasty. Then we played outside. I played soccer with Melad, Vlami, Martin, Yassen and Leo then my dad picked me up around 6:30. 🎉😀🎳.

Six, seven my score was sixty seven, the people in my team said

Six seven until my score changed. l loved going to ten pin bowling

And in one of my turns I got a strike hooray! But it was 2 and a half hours and I got tired.

I held the blue bowling ball, holding it tight. I took my teacher's advice and my best friend's advice. Rolling it down the alley the ball went perfectly in the middle, being very stressed, thinking, will it hit the pins. It hit all 10 pins, I jumped up and down. I was so happy when I went to the screen to check and when it said strike so I celebrated so hard, I was so delighted. By Lawrence

Year 4/5 - Science Inquiry Expo

Today our Year 4/5 students proudly showcased their Science Inquiry Projects at the school expo! Over the past five weeks, they have explored a wide range of fascinating topics, from the solar system and climate change to the connections between natural systems and Aboriginal understandings of the sky.

Using posters, slides, videos, songs, and quizzes, students shared their discoveries with other classes and members of our school community. It was wonderful to see their creativity, confidence, and communication skills shine as they explained their findings to classmates, staff, and families.

Congratulations to all students for their amazing efforts and outstanding scientific thinking!

Year 5/6

Over the last week in 5/6, students have had a chance to display their awesome artistic skills by portraying their understanding of the seven days of creation in the form of a poster. In addition, there was also an opportunity to create a mandala inspired piece of art that allowed them to creatively symbolise and represent God's creations. Around the outside, they added drawings or words that tell how humans can live peacefully and care for creation.

We are all very excited for camp next Wednesday and cannot wait for all the fun that is in store for us!
