Term has started off with a bang!!  The Grade 4-6 students read a familiar book called Tomasina the Hungry Cat " Tomasina ha sempre fame!

Students used their prior knowledge to translate these sentences into English.  They also are learning how to speak in sentences "Tomorrow is Friday" Domani e venerdi.  "Yesterday was Saturday" Ieri era sabato

Students in the F-2 area refreshed their knowledge of numbers and played matching games.

SPORT

During Sport this fortnight we have commenced our cricket unit.  The junior classes have focused on correct underarm and overarm throwing action, as well as the proper hand position for catching such a small ball.  Their improvement in just two lessons has been noticeable!

The middle and senior classes have extended on those basic skills into straight-armed bowling technique.  We've really broken this skill down and pinpointed the difference between a 'throw' and a 'bowl' and had a practice at bowling down the wicket to the stumps.  Some students have really surprised themself with how quickly they've picked this up!

The glorious sunshine has also been a very welcome addition to our Term 4 lessons, and it has been such a happy and fun time to celebrate with class-agreed games like 'Farmer Sam' and 'Capture the Flag'.  These games are great for building collaboration and resilience skills.

The 5/6 students went to the Summer Sports in Kyabram and got to mingle with students from other local schools.  They played in rotations of La Crosse, Ultimate Frisbee and Tee-Ball across the course of the day.  Behaviour, enthusiasm and resilience was once again displayed in true St Pats spirit.  Interestingly, when we arrived home and put it to the vote, the group was a perfect 3-way split and each sport was equally enjoyed!

Our 5-6 basketball team played in the Echuca competition and represented our School with great sportsmanship! The goals were very lean after the first 3 games, but eventually they found their feet and scored a couple in the last 2 games. We didn't win a game, but we  did have a lot of fun!

Well done to Hugh and Colman who coached for the day, and to Sean who was their ultimate sidekick.

ART

We dove straight into some print making projects in Art for term 4 creating some backgrounds for a self portrait transfer in the senior classes. The junior classes enjoyed collecting some nature to create mandalas and also did some leaf rubbings to show a basic print making technique. We are excited to explore some more print making techniques in the next few weeks.
