General Information & Reminders

Dear Parents,
Welcome back to Term 4. We hope you’ve all had a great break.
We have an exciting and busy final term ahead! It is jam packed with experiences from all learning areas, including Inquiry and end of year celebrations.
A new homework grid will be sent out in Week 2. Please also remember to continue with the following:
- Regular independent reading to promote enjoyment and interest. Please remember to sign your child’s diary to confirm they have read to you at least once during the week. This is particularly important as we prepare for Grade 4, where it is also a weekly expectation. Reading with your child is a great opportunity to ask prompting questions to assist with comprehension. Such as: What is the story about? Why do you think they made that choice? Was it a good choice? Why did that happen? What do you think will happen next? What was your favourite part of the story so far? Why?
- Gaining fluency in the recall of multiplication facts - 2x, 3x, 5x, and 10x and beyond, depending on understanding and ability.
- Practice of spelling words that are sent home weekly (this may be verbal or handwritten)
- This term we would like the students to spend at least 20 minutes on Matific each week to reinforce the learning that has taken place in the class. Their login details are in their diaries.
- Extra fun: The NYTimes website has some great word building games that promote spelling and vocabulary, such as Wordle, Connections and Spelling Bee: https://www.nytimes.com/games/wordle/index.html
Homework is due on Tuesdays and diaries will be checked on Thursdays.
Warmest Regards,
Helen, Michael, Aedan, Madi and Deb.
