“Together may we give our children the roots to grow and the wings to fly.”
As we reflect on the conclusion of Term 1, I wanted to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your incredible assistance and involvement within our ELC - Year 6 community throughout what has been a busy, yet productive term.
Your collective efforts and unwavering support have made a significant impact on our students' experiences. Whether it was volunteering at events such as the Primary Swimming Carnival or excursions, being present at assemblies, liturgies or other activities. Assisting with homework, attending our recent Learning Conversations or simply offering words of encouragement, your contributions have not gone unnoticed.
As we eagerly anticipate the start of Term 2, I am filled with excitement for all that lies ahead. With such supportive parents within our ELC - Year 6 space, I am confident that the upcoming term will be filled with even more positive experiences and achievements.
Thank you once again for your invaluable support and commitment to our Primary school. Your involvement truly makes a difference and enhances the educational journey for all our students. Stay safe over the holiday period and if possible take some time for you.
Year 6 Trip to Canberra
A reminder to all parents/guardians that on Thursday 2 May each student travelling to Canberra must be represented at the information session that will be held in the Cahill Centre at 7:00pm. This will be the only dedicated opportunity for you as parents/guardians to ask questions, raise concerns and hear directly key travel details about the upcoming trip in Term 3. Information has been sent home regarding this evening via email. The Year 6 Teaching team along with myself, look forward to sharing with you what the 2024 trip looks like, as well as provide advice for those students who may be feeling a little overwhelmed by the prospect of five days away from home.
Canberra Trip PACER Rebate
I recognise that the cost of the trip to Canberra is a significant spend for all Year 6 families. What is significant is that as a College we receive $300 per student reimbursed given where we live in relation to Canberra, thus reducing the cost of the trip significantly. The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate (PACER) is an Australian government initiative aimed at supporting schools across Australia in providing educational visits to Canberra, the capital city. The rebate helps to cover some of the costs associated with these educational trips, allowing students to gain firsthand experience of Australia's parliamentary processes and institutions. The Parliament and Civics Education Rebate underscores the Australian government's commitment to promoting civic education and ensuring that students have access to valuable educational opportunities that promote a better understanding of democratic principles and institutions.
