The CSNSW Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Conference Message Stick Journey
The CSNSW Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Conference Message Stick is currently making its way across our beautiful Diocese in the lead up to the State Conference.
Did you know traditional Message Sticks were used as a form of communication sent between clans, tribes and nations to share news of celebrations, ceremonies, arrange meetings, trades or diplomacy across the country and always demanded acknowledgement and respect with a shared understanding.
The CSNSW Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Education Conference Message Stick will be sharing the theme of the Conference : “Spirit On Country: Learning Together, then, now & always” . The Conference Message Stick will travel a distance of over 1450 kms over term 1 -Term 4 as it travels to the TRECC.
Check out the latest celebrations of the Message Stick Magical Moments from our small NSW & QLD border community of St Joseph’s School, Mungindi celebrations.
Special Thank you to Aunt Rose Troutman and her family for sharing her beautiful life story of growing up in Mungindi with students and staff and the wonderful community members who help celebrate with johnny cake making and a yummy chicken curry and cultural activities for the week.
