From the Classroom

Hands on Learning and Collaboration in 1/2

In the 1/2 area, we love exploring our learning through hands-on activities and collaborative group work. Here are some examples of the wonderful things that we have been doing in 1/2.

Shape investigation

We are using tangrams to teach 2D shapes in Year 1. This hands-on approach fosters creativity, critical thinking and understanding of shapes’ attributes.

The Year 2s enjoyed soaking up some sun while they looked for shapes in real life out in the playground.

Poetry

Year 1 also engaged in writing poems individually and in teams, sparking the joy of writing, creativity, and collaboration among students.

The Year 1/2s have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to become 'real life' authors by completing the writing process of planning, drafting, editing and publishing their very own books. They loved sharing their stories with the Foundation students and they were a wonderful audience!

As you can see, we love learning creatively and working with others to support our learning in 1/2.
