As the term draws to a close, I would like to thank all candidates who nominated for School Council this month, as well as the many families who completed and returned the election ballot papers.
We rely on engaged and dedicated participants to provide the support and governance that has helped build and maintain the continued strength (and growth) of the school. It is always pleasing to have continued interest from our community in being part of that journey.
We have a variety of channels that facilitate feedback and engagement which are probably worth mentioning again. Naturally, contacting myself (contact details are in the newsletter), Mrs Bullen or Ms Garrity (via the Office) is always an option, and we welcome anyone with enquiries or concerns. Similarly all our School Council members are involved in various facets of school life and are open to approaches also. All of us consciously reflect on any topics that we encounter, and bring them to School Council if we feel it warranted (or are requested to do so).
We now include photos and names of School Councillors in the newsletter to assist in recognising current members. As I have mentioned previously, parents are more than welcome to attend both School Council meetings, as well as the Sub Committee meetings (Facilities and Education) - we next meet on Tuesday May 7th. It is also worth noting that the children also have a voice and agency, including via SRC and its representatives.
The previous newsletter alluded to last week's School Council meeting, which commenced with welcoming some new members, selection of our Executive for the next year (President, Vice President and Treasurer), and composition of Sub Committees.
We then had the pleasure of hearing from Jeyda A on behalf of our School Captains, who presented eloquently on their motivations and insights about the role.
The other key item we reviewed was the Annual Report (2023) which was endorsed by School Council. Once released, it provides publicly accessible information about our school profile, performance (education and financial) and trending, including comparison to similar schools. We are really proud of the results, which have come as a result of a sustained and co-ordinated program of work across multiple teams and years. Many thanks to all the staff (and students) for their effort in creating such a positive environment for learning and growth.
