School-wide positive behaviour support (SWPBS) is a framework that brings together school communities to develop positive, safe, supportive learning cultures.
SWPBS assists schools to improve social, emotional, behavioural and academic outcomes for children and young people.

At Greenvale Primary School, we implement SWPBS practices.
Two essential features of SWPBS implementation are to encourage expected behaviour and to discourage undesirable (unexpected) behaviour.
As a school it is important for us to acknowledge when students show desirable behaviour. We do this through:
As important as it is to acknowledge expected behaviour, it is equally important to discourage unexpected behaviour. We teach students about school values and expectations through Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), which is explicitly taught for one hour weekly. We also interweave these conversations and lessons through our everyday teaching.
Unfortunately, the use of unexpected language (swearing) is currently an issue in our school. Staff will be reminding students of expected language and will be issuing School Values Notices.
We appreciate your support in helping us to discourage this behaviour at school and encourage you to have conversations with your child about expected language and behaviour at Greenvale Primary School. Having all parties on the same page keeps the message consistent for our students, that expected behaviour must be demonstrated at school.
