Harmony Day: What makes us who we are.
We are rich in diversity, strong in identity, proud of our history.
As a college we have the wonderful privilege to share in this community with so many students and families who come from vibrant and varied backgrounds. It is this unity in diversity that teaches us that we are all part of a wider community, and that each of us has a part to play to do their part towards creating a harmonious and caring school.
We were thrilled to see the demonstration of pride in our student cultural heritage at our Cultural Celebration day, the timing of which coincided with Harmony Day the following week.
We also thank our partners Foundation House, Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) and welcome new partners Australian Muslim Womens Centre for Human Rights AMWCHR.
Term 2 Wednesday Muslim Young Womens Group. AMWCHR
Every Wednesday at lunchtime our Muslim young women are invited to join Farima from AMWCHR for lunch and conversation in J2.
Hi everyone! I'm Farima, thrilled to connect with all you fabulous girls and dive into some meaningful conversations. Aussie by birth, Afghan by heritage, I bring a blend of down-under charm and Afghan spice to the table. Can't wait to chat and explore the topics that matter to you!
AMWCHR will be supporting our young women, and their families throughout the year and will be also holding parent forums around financial literacy, settlement, human rights and the context of Australia, and affirmative consent.
We are excited to have them on board.
Need help?
We are here to support you and your families. We may not always be the answer, but we are here to help find the answer. Please reach out to the Wellbeing and Inclusion team for any concerns that you may have. This includes financial issues, wellbeing issues, learning concerns, safety concerns or if you just need to know where to go to get the help you need. We will always do our best to connect our families to the best support and the support that is most culturally appropriate. We are here to help. Working together we can ensure our young people are able to come to school, ready to learn.
Have a safe and happy break, a Happy Easter, and a wonderful Eid al-Fiitr.
