From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the college community who have been so supportive of the difficult decision I took to tender my resignation this week. This is a change for the college community which will take place at the end of Term 3. With change often comes feelings of uncertainty. CES Ltd have started the process of recruitment.

Part of this process will be an opportunity for staff and families to engage in consultation to express the desirable attributes and needs of the college to ensure this is considered through the recruitment process. I am confident this process will lead to the appointment of a new Principal who will be able to lead the college through the next exciting chapter.

We are very excited to welcome a new teaching staff member to Year 7-9 in the disciplines of English and Science. Jacinta Beer is a Shepparton local who graduated at the end of 2023. If you see Jacinta around, please make her welcome.

The beginning of Term 2 has been very busy with our very first group of Outdoor Education students engaging in their Murray River experience. They packed for four days at the river where they canoed and camped. Problem solving and teamwork were two of the highly valuable skills employed during the experience. The participants returned on Friday afternoon, tired and weary. Thank you to Dion who led the experience, supported by Kate and Ryleigh.

On Wednesday night we held our annual general information night. We had families interested in enrolling their children at St Anne’s College attend the evening where we shared information about learning at St Anne’s College, our developing story and our graduate outcomes. We look forward to the Year 5 and 6 Discovery Day on Wednesday 24 April.

Next week we have a public holiday on Thursday April 25 for Anzac Day. On Anzac Day, we pause to remember and honour the courageous men and women who served and sacrificed in the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC). Anzac Day commemorates the landing of these forces at Gallipoli in 1915 during World War I. It is a time for reflection, gratitude and remembrance. Lest We Forget.

Friday April 26 is a professional learning day for the staff. Students are not required at school on this day. Staff will access the incredible knowledge and experience of Karina Walker from Brick by Brick, an organisation that supports in the Autism and Mental Health space. We look forward the learning we will undertake with Karina on the day.

I hope you all have a restful weekend or an opportunity to engage in activities that ‘fill your cup’ over the next couple of days.
