St Patrick's Day Celebration
Sunday 17th March is St. Patrick's Day! In celebration of Saint Patrick, the Holy Cross community have filled our school with a sea of green! Some of us are wearing something small like a green ribbon in our hair, and some of us have whole green outfits!
Around the school, Holy Cross students might have seen some green clovers hanging around… The Year Six Well-being Leaders of the school have put up some clovers for the children to count, the child who guesses the correct total will win a small prize!
We hope you have a good St.Patrick's Day!
Sustainability news
Clean up Australia day is always the first Sunday in March - so in 2024, the official clean up Australia Day was on Sunday the 3rd of March. It is a day that people get together to clean up Australia. Thirty years ago Ian Kiernan, an "average Australian" who had a simple idea to make a difference in his own backyard, has now become the nation's largest community-based environmental event, held annually on the first Sunday in March. Over twenty million Aussies have stepped up over the years, donating their time to improve the environment. For Clean Up Australia Day Holy Cross participated by cleaning up school grounds. Everyone joined in and cleaned up the rubbish.

Catholic Education Week
Sunday 10 March - Sunday 17 March
We are excited to share with you the highlights of our school's participation in Catholic Education Week, an occasion where we come together as a community to celebrate our Catholic identity and the invaluable contributions of Catholic education.
As school captains we had the honour of representing our school at the St. Patrick's Day Mass, held at the Cathedral. We travelled to Melbourne on the Salesian bus, joining other children from local primary and secondary Catholic schools. It was a wonderful experience for fostering a sense of unity and faith among all who attended.
This year Catholic Education Week runs from Sunday 10 March to Sunday 17 March. The theme for 2024 is: ‘In the light of Christ’.

Holy Cross Caritas 2024
Hello Holy Cross Families,
Our awesome school is raising money for Caritas so if you are willing to donate a few dollars towards Caritas we would be very thankful. Caritas’s purpose is to improve food security, agriculture, health, water, sanitation and support to young people with a disability. We are inspired to write this because everyday 25,000 people die of starvation and lack of essential needs. By 2050 over 40 million people will be living in poverty unless we take action. And another 1 billion people live without essential needs. The amount of money you raise will go a long way towards helping people who suffer through poverty. A high number of people will be given the essential needs to live and more because of your donations.
We are sure that most of the parents know what Caritas is and know that their children can bring in a donation to put in their Caritas box in their classroom.
