Wellbeing

How does LPS support students in the well-being space?

We start with building a team to manage the comprehensive Wellbeing Program. The Wellbeing Team and LPS has grown enormously in recent years.

*Assistant Principal – Full time – Mrs Nicola Pepper

*Psychologist – Full time – Brittany Taylor

*Disability Inclusion Leader – 4 days a week – Ms Georgia Ryan

*THRIVE Network Co-ordinator—1 day a week – Sarah Roney

*School Chaplain – 3 days a week – Cherrie Newsham

*Speech Therapist – 1 day a week – Fiona Biss

*We have 17 Education Support aides over a range of days to work with our funded students and to support students who may require funding in the future.

Our Wellbeing philosophy starts with a preventative/proactive model based on positive psychology. This curriculum is carefully planned and delivered as part of our THRIVE program. There are lessons which cover the mandated curriculum for the Department including Respectful Relationships and Consent Education. We try to build positive attitudes and kind behaviours. Additional components of this program are embedded in our THRIVE diaries.  We have our THRIVE Play Leaders running games and activities 4 days a week for our younger students.

Our school values are Respect, Resilience and Responsibility. Through discussions we help students learn what is respectful behaviour and what is not. We teach them to be responsible and show resilience. These discussions and activities are embedded into our everyday culture of our school. It’s the basis of our conversations. We recognise these values with certificates at our school assemblies.

Our breakfast program is open on a Tuesday and Thursday morning – run by a small and hardworking group of volunteers.  We run a range of lunch time programs each term.  We also have our farm and quiet space open each lunch time for students to use if they choose.

If you have any well-being concerns please feel free to reach out to your child’s class teacher as your first step.
