JJAMM

"From Friday the 14th to Tuesday the 18th of February Eleanor and I (Patch) were extremely fortunate to attend and experience the JJAMM program at Mary Mackillop Place and Baulkham Hills, North Sydney. The program was run by Carly, Nick, Emilia, Vittoria, and Sister Jannette. We thank all staff members of both places of accommodation, but we especially give thanks to the names above. We also appreciate Mrs. Roscoe, and Mr. Blencowe for ensuring a safe and smooth journey. The first day, Saturday, was focused on settling in and allowing ourselves to feel comfortable with the environment. Many students were familiar to us, but the vast majority were other leaders we had never seen. People came from across Australia and New Zealand and a wide variety of people and leadership styles were on display. Sunday and Monday focussed on courage, and practical leadership. Activities were fun, engaging, and educational. For example, we were tasked to select an issue in our society and create a large poster and stage a protest for the rest of the group. More workshops surrounding public speaking, courage, leadership, and faith were successfully conducted with participation from every student and staff. The spiritual significance of the journey was overarching as the values and story of Mary Mackillop, Julian Tenison Woods, and St. Joseph were communicated through teachings and experience. A highlight for everyone was morning prayer at the tomb of Mary Mackillop where we truly felt a connection to the life of Mary and how we should act as leaders. To summarise, we had an amazing experience with every student, staff member, journey, lesson, and teachings."  - College Captains; Patrick Wilson and Eleanor Pedlow
