Captains Corner

Last week the Year Six students began their Interschool Sports Competition. Here is a recap of their first match from our four wonderful School Captains.

Hi, I’m Anvita, one of the School Captains.

In this newsletter, I would like to talk about the interschool sports match that happened last week on Friday. There were 5 sports to pick from, tee – ball, kickball, tennis, volleyball and Kanga Cricket. I chose Hot Shot tennis.

That day, we played against Glen Waverley South. We approached the court excited and nervous but also determined to play. We started the game with powerful serves and balls flying everywhere. In the end, both the schools had fun and are excited to meet each other at round robin. We can’t wait to play some more!!!!

Hi, I'm Mann. On Friday last week, the HPS cricket team stepped on to the scalding hot grounds of Highvale Secondary College ready to play against Glen Waverley South. The 8 of them marched forward. I (luckily) was there to witness the spectacular events that unfolded. There were plentiful scenes of excellent sportsmanship from our team. They managed to draw with our team which was a terrible shock to us. But in the end, everyone was happy!

Hi, I'm Ethan. Last week on Friday, the Year 5/6s competed in sports against Glen Waverly South. I played kickball. We started warming up confidently. As soon as we started playing, we worked together really well but we sadly lost. Overall, we all had fun playing our sports!

Hi, I'm Sham. Last Friday, Highvale played against Glen Waverley South Primary School. There were 5 sports: volleyball, tennis, kickball, tee ball and cricket. It was a fun day and everyone showed all the School Values and had great sportsmanship. Everyone had a great time cheering on their team! I was in volleyball and boy was it fun! We had so many skilled people on our team that were hitting catching and over all just being great sports. The other team did win but we no one cared because our team worked so hard! Better luck next time Highvale!!!

Wishing all of our Interschool Sports Teams the best of luck for their next game this Friday. Go Highvale!
