OUTDOOR EDUCATION

YEAR 9 OES - SPLASH POOL SESSION
On Thursday the 6th of February, the Year 9 Outdoor Ed and VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies classes visited SPLASH Pools in Leongatha. The aim of the visit was to learn real life water safety skills from our experienced teachers. The student’s swimming ability was assessed, and students were taught valuable lessons in water safety prevention and rescue techniques.
VCE OES - PHILLIP ISLAND AND CORINELLA WALK
As part of the VCE Outdoor and Environmental Studies subject, students have been learning about the changing perceptions, interactions and impacts of different human settlements over time. In some very warm weather, students completed an 8.2km walk around Cape Woolamai Peninsula (which was a great practice for the Wilsons Prom hike later in the term). They then visited Churchill Island and Corinella to learn about its settlement history over time. Then on to the Gurdies area to learn about natural Flora regeneration after a fire and discuss bush fire safety.
