INTER HOUSE SWIMMING

Can it get any better than this!

The 2025 Korumburra Secondary College Sports calendar started out with a SPLASH, as students, staff and members of our local community came along to support our annual Inter House Swimming Carnival.

With McDonald taking a clean sweep of the winners trophies in 2024, the challenge was set for Howitt, Whitelaw and Strzelecki and they did not disappoint!

To get our competitors (and spectators) warmed up, Ms Reymers took charge of the main arena with a highly engaging (and dare we say entertaining) session on Water Aerobics! From Year 7-12, we saw many participants get in the spirit of the day and get some important House points on the board.

With the warm up done, Freestyle was the first event of the day. With many age groups hosting heats - there was some strong competition in the pool before we rolled over to Backstroke followed by Butterfly.

The history books were re-written with Brooklyn Packer of Whitelaw setting a new Backstroke record in the under 12-13 age group.

Novelty Events provided a break in the formal competition twice during the day with Mr Ellison leading teachers and students alike through an array of activities including Tube rescues, aqua volleyball, sinky scavenger hunt, hungry hippos, the bucket challenge, noodle races and ball scramble!

As the relays took to the pool, competition remained fierce as Houses worked to 'field a team' to earn the all important final points of the day.

Closing out the pool events was the staff versus students relay.

With so much action throughout the day, only one team lined up on the blocks against the teachers.

It had a been a while since the teachers won this event and with a balance of experience and a few new recruits, the teachers took out the challenge for 2025!

To close out a great day, age champions were announced and presented with a medallion in recognition of their achievements.

Despite a huge effort from Whitelaw, Howitt and Strzelecki, McDonald took out the Champions trophy in the Female Category, Male Category and Overall, proving once again how strong they are in the pool!

For competitors who won their events (Butterfly, Breaststroke, Backstroke) for their age group, or were one of the top 4 fastest times in the Freestyle for their age group, the Interschool Swimming will take place on 6th March, 2025 at Korumburra Pool. Permission forms for this will be on Compass soon.

To everyone who attended the day, whether you got completely wet, your toes wet or simply enjoyed watching others get wet, thankyou for your ongoing support of our students and school community.
