Big 3 Athletes

This year, Mount Alvernia College is offering our Big 3 Athletes (Swimming, Cross Country, and Athletics) a six-week strength and conditioning program at ADAPT gym, designed to prepare for the upcoming CaSSSA Championships.

Students have the opportunity to be selected for one of our Big 3 teams by attending training sessions and participating in lead-up meets.

All students are welcome to join the training, whether aiming for the Big 3 teams or enhancing their fitness for other sports.

Those selected for a Big 3 team will have the chance to represent the College at the CaSSSA Championships.

Genesis Rowing Club

Are you competitive? Are you able to get up early? If so, then Rowing is the sport for you.

Genesis Rowing is hosting a Come and Try morning on Saturday 15th February (7:00 am - 9:00 am) for all interested secondary students.

Rowing is an excellent sport that builds fitness, focus, and determination. It offers the benefits of both team and individual events, as well as a joy for sunrises.

Rowing is a perfect complimentary activity for those who play sports like Netball, Rugby, Cricket, Volleyball, or AFL, or do other activities like Swimming or Dancing, as it adds fitness and strength without the risk of injury, except for the blisters that you will get on your hands.

Our squad already includes students from Yr.7 to Yr.12 mainly from Genesis, but also other schools well, and we are looking for more interested people from any year group to join. Anybody can start rowing for the first time, even if you are in Yr.11 or 12.

We compete in four regattas against other schools on Saturdays in Term 2, so it is a four-month commitment for as many people as possible.

If you have any questions or wish to come along, please contact Mr. Andrew Duncan via email a.duncan@genesis.qld.edu.au
