A huge thank you to all the boys who performed in last week’s Inaugural Mass. As always, the choir and musicians delivered an exceptional performance, especially considering the limited rehearsal time. A big thanks to Ms Samantha Blakeney, Ms Alison Braidwood and Ms Melanie Stewart for their dedication to preparing the boys for this special event.
This year, the Blue & Gold Concert returns on Thursday 13 March. This special concert celebrates the rich culture at the College, with current students, Old Boys, parents, grandparents, staff and members of the College community coming together for a night of musical celebration. The evening will conclude with the Symphony Orchestra and Chorus performing "Ancient Words." More information will follow in the coming weeks.
We are thrilled to announce that Peregian, an album recorded in our very own Hive Studios, has been nominated for Album of the Year for the 2025 Queensland Music Awards! The album features several MCA staff members including compositions by Dr Andrew Butt and production by Mr Enrico Lemura. For the first time, this prestigious category is included in the QMA's People's Choice Awards, where public votes will be combined with industry judging to determine the finalists. The winner will be announced at the Queensland Music Awards on Tuesday 25 March 2025. Peregian by Andrew Butt Trio is one of around 20 standout albums from across Queensland selected by industry peers. Other nominees include Confidence Man, Troy Cassar-Daley, The Veronicas, Sheppard and Amy Shark.
Voting is open until Sunday 16 February. Show your support and cast your vote via this link.

At Marist College Ashgrove, all students are invited to join our vibrant Co-curricular Music Program. In addition to our instrumental ensembles, we offer two non-auditioned Vocal Ensembles that provide a fun and supportive environment for students to engage further with the College community through music. Participation involves a weekly morning rehearsal and offers multiple performance opportunities throughout the year.
If your son is interested in joining one of our Vocal Ensembles, please email music@marash.qld.edu.au with his full name and year level.
