Sports Day

We had another hugely successful Sports Day last week. Thank you so much to Troy, Jaya and Kelly who worked together to organise a seamless day of sports competition and tabloid events for our students. It was wonderful to see so many families come along to support the athletes too! It was so heartwarming to hear students cheering one another on and working collaboratively on the day. Each child set a collaborative goal and I could see and hear lots of evidence of them working towards their goals!

Congratulations to Flinders who won the athletics shield, and to Light who won the Learn Stand Give Fly shield for 2025.

Thank you also to the P and F for opening the Willow Cafe for everyone's enjoyment- they made $500 profit to go towards school projects. We hope you enjoy these photos of Sports Day!

If you have two minutes, we would appreciate your feedback. Please fill out the feedback form about the day through this link:

Thank you!

Collaborative Tower Challenge

On Monday afternoon, all students participated in a cross-age Collaborative Tower Challenge to celebrate and complete our Learn Stand Give Fly term theme 'collaborative'.

29 teams of students competed to create the tallest tower while also working collaboratively. We were amazed to see the teamwork involved! We felt very proud of our 29 team leaders who stepped back from the action to ensure their younger classmates had a genuine opportunity to participate. Despite many last-minute failures 😖, I think all students enjoyed the collaboration and genuine challenge this task provided.

Congratulations to the winning teams:

In third place: a tie between Team # 10 and # 27

In second place Team # 26

In first place with a tower of 201cm was Team # 1

Feedback re change of eating times

Thank you for the feedback about the change to eating times.  We also surveyed staff and students. The following are in favour of the change to now eating after the breaks:

83% of staff

76% of parents and carers

63% of students

The most common comments from parents and carers indicate that many children are now eating more:

  • My child eats more now that they can eat after the break.
  • This has been a fabulous change for our kids!
  • Less food seems to be coming home uneaten, which is great!

The majority of staff also support the change:

  • My class are actually eating all of their food which is good.
  • Love it. More food being eaten, smoother transitions. Love having 10 extra mins at 1st lunch break.
  • I have found it smoother than the old system. The timing of the two breaks is also great.

It was interesting to see that students were the group least in favour of the change. We will continue with eating after the breaks for now and I will talk to the students further next term to better understand their views, and to see if they have any ideas of how this can be improved. Thank you! 🥪🍣🍎

New Assembly Times/Dates

From next term, we are reducing our assemblies to 4 a term, generally weeks 1,4,7 and 10. We hope this change will make it easier for more parents to attend and will bring us in line with most other schools. We will plan to include the same popular features such as birthdays and Speck of Gold awards, so mark these dates and plan to attend! 😊

Assemblies next term will be held on these dates:

Week 1 Friday May 2 run by Katie's Reception class

Week 4 Friday May 23 run by Jaya's Reception / Year 1 class

Week 7 Friday June 13 run by Kelly's Year 1/2 class

Week 10 Friday July 4 run by Samantha's year 2/3 class

Road Rules around the oval

We have had a number of people let us know they are concerned about pedestrian safety around the oval and at the pick up spot near the oval. We remind all families to please slow to walking pace.  Although parents and staff work hard to supervise children, there are sometimes young children and toddlers in this space who may not think before crossing to their parents' cars, and the pathway can be obscured.

Please also be especially careful when picking up students from OSHC when football training is on, since this has been identified as a dangerous time. Thank you for keeping our children safe!

New Uniform Policy

The Governing Council has recently updated the uniform policy. Please read the policy and make sure your children are keeping to our agreements. Thank you!

Special Visitor

We have all been enjoying the glorious weather these past weeks. Our school yard is a beautiful place to play, and we often have special visitors who like to join us. Aren't we lucky?

I wish you all a wonderful holiday, full of special family times with your children. 😊
