Mother’s Day
Mother's Day is a special time when we take a moment to honour the incredible mothers and special women in our lives, celebrating their love, strength, and the profound impact they have on us and our community. It's a day to appreciate the beautiful bond of motherhood and the nurturing spirit that shapes families and society.
As we approach Mother's Day, let's keep all mothers and those special women who fill mothering roles in our thoughts and prayers. We also remember our Mother in Heaven, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and ask for her constant guidance, just as Jesus gave her to us from the cross.
We are delighted to invite you to our school's Mother's Day prayer celebration next Friday, May 9th, at 8:50 am in the Church. Students from 2M have thoughtfully planned and will lead this special celebration. They have carefully chosen and even written the prayers and songs for this liturgy, making it a truly meaningful occasion.
Please join us as we come together to celebrate and give thanks for all the wonderful mothers and mother figures in our lives. We look forward to sharing this heartfelt event with you.
Pope Francis and the process of choosing a new Pope
As Elise shared in her Principal’s message, the recent passing of Pope Francis brings the global Catholic community together in remembrance and reflection. We recall with deep appreciation his profound and consistent message of compassion, a call to care for all people, especially the most vulnerable among us, and to be responsible stewards of our precious Earth. His teachings have resonated deeply within our school community, inspiring us to live out these values in our daily actions.
Many students have asked me about how a new Pope is chosen and this is done through the conclave. At this significant time, our prayers extend to the Holy Spirit, asking for guidance for those who will undertake the sacred responsibility of electing the new Pope. This process, known as the conclave, is a deeply spiritual and prayerful undertaking.
In essence, the conclave is a gathering of the College of Cardinals in the Vatican. These Cardinals, who are bishops from around the world, are tasked with the solemn duty of electing the next leader of the Catholic Church. Locked away from the outside world to foster an environment of prayer and discernment, they engage in a series of ballots until a two-thirds majority is reached.
The moment a new Pope accepts his election, the world awaits with anticipation to learn the identity of the individual who will guide the Catholic faith for years to come. This process underscores the deep tradition and spiritual foundation upon which the leadership of the Catholic Church is built.
We encourage you to speak with your children about this significant time in the Church, fostering an understanding of the global community to which we belong and the importance of prayer and thoughtful reflection.
