Summer Inter-School Sport
Year 6 students have participated in Summer Inter-School Sport on Friday mornings, competing against local schools.
Volleyball Boys
This season we were undefeated in our weekly games every Friday. We have played really well as a team. We would like to thank Miss Kemp for training us to be our best and we look forward to playing in Division Volleyball later in the year in Term 4.
Volleyball Girls
Throughout the term we have competed against five other schools. Unfortunately, we didn’t qualify for Division Volleyball. However, we did our best and had fun playing volleyball and encouraging one another along the way.
We would like to thank Miss Kemp and Ms Hocking for giving us this amazing opportunity. We encourage future years to try out for volleyball. It is a truly fun and rewarding experience!
Rounders
The first game we lost but we knew we could do better. So, we put lots of effort in our next game and won! We would like to thank our teachers and our team and especially Ms Hocking and Miss Kemp for making inter-school sport happen. We had lots of fun and we encourage the next Year 6s to play rounders.
Hot Shots Boys
Our Hot Shots team has qualified for the Division final. Our amazing team members are Marcus, Deric, Timothy, Nick, Hayden, Jeremy, Nathan, Neil and Abhi. We have all improved since we have been coached by Ms Hocking. Each game we gave 100% effort.

Our team members who helped us get this far are Lara, Emily, Isla, Ava, Lauren, Eva, Katerina, Danielle, Reeshita, Elena and Desiree. On behalf of the team, we would like to thank Ms Hocking for making this amazing experience possible and supporting us through every challenge.

Monash Heights District Tennis
On the 25th of March 2025, I competed in the Monash Heights District Tennis. There was a total of 19 players consisting of 9 girls and 10 boys across six schools. There were two groups, Group A and B, and the top two players from each group would compete and then if you win that, you progress to the Final. I was in Group A. I was nervous but excited at the same time.
Ms Hocking organized this event as School Sport Victoria (SSV) stopped running tennis, so Ms Hocking invited all the schools in the District whether they were interested in this event. This event was held at Tally Ho.
I came first in my group as I won every match so then I advanced to the Finals. The final was my toughest match as I played the winner of the other group who had also not lost a match. I played my best and I won 4-1. I was proud of myself because for the last two years, I had come second to my brother so it was an honour that I could finally come first.
I would like to thank Ms Hocking for organising this event as if it wasn’t for her, this would have never happened. I would also like to thank her for watching me and supporting me for the whole event.
Since I won, I received a medal which said, “Monash Heights District Champion”. I had a really good time there as I got to play lots of tennis and meet new people. I really enjoyed this event as I was proud of myself for winning. I had lots of fun and I hope to do more tennis events when I am in high school next year.
Marcus (Year 6)
I competed in the District Tennis. It was a great experience and it was very fun hanging out with my friends. A huge thanks to Ms Hocking for organising the whole event and all the parents who supported us. Unfortunately, I lost in the final but it was very fun and I did my best.
Lauren (Year 6)
I participated in the District Tennis round robin on the 25th March, 2025. We played at Tally Ho Tennis Club and competed against multiple schools in our district. This was my very first time playing and I was nervous. I had a wonderful time there and enjoyed playing with other people. I saw a few familiar faces all around me and looked forward to playing them. I would like to give a special thanks to Ms Hocking for organising the event and cheering us on. Even though I had a lot of fun, I will still be a bit sad for not being able to play next year. But, I was very proud to be representing Essex Heights.
Deric (Year 6)
I competed in District Tennis last week on Thursday 27th of March with Lauren, Deric and Marcus. I was so excited to find out I got the opportunity to be a part of this event even though I have not played tennis for two years. Overall, it was a day packed with lots of tennis and so much fun! I loved having the opportunity to experience tennis again. Even though I didn’t win all of my matches it will still be a moment I’ll never forget. I also want to say a huge thanks to Ms Hocking for organising this amazing event and encouraging us so much throughout the whole day no matter what, without Ms Hocking this event wouldn’t even be possible! I also want to give another thanks to my parents for staying to watch me the whole day and picking me up and dropping me off, without them I would have missed this amazing opportunity. I also want to say great job to everyone else who competed last Thursday.
Ava (Year 6)
Congratulations to Marcus, Deric, Lauren and Ava for representing EHPS with awesome sportsmanship at District Tennis. It was perfect weather for tennis and I thoroughly enjoyed watching them play.
Terrific achievements for Marcus winning the boys’ section and Lauren placing runners up in the girls’ section.
It was amazing to watch some very talented tennis players across our district and I look forward to organising this event again next year.
