Welcome to Level 3 2025!

Weeks 9 and 10 saw the Level 3 students really excel in their learning journeys by concentrating, participating and settling into their learning after NAPLAN. The students also went on an exciting and challenging excursion to the 'Enchanted Maze' where they participated in tree top climbing, mazes and various other activities. It was wonderful to observe the students in a different environment and to see them flourish and thrive through initiative, challenges and active participation.

Literacy

In Literacy we have continued to concentrate on Core Literacy such as spelling rules and dictation.  We are also continuing to focus on decoding and encoding which assists with spelling, reading and writing. Our comprehension strategies have seen the students focus on themes within a book and similar books in addition to discussing the dialogue and specific language used in the book. Students received their Morphology (study of words and parts of words) books this week and these books will follow them to Level 6.  Students are now far more familiar using connectives, nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs and pronouns in their writing as well as identifying these in sentences.

Maths

In Maths, we have been concentrating on Partitioning numbers to the value of 100,000 as well as writing these numbers in word form.  We have manipulated numbers by substituting various numbers to change the value of the number in addition to learning that the value of zero in the middle of a number must be included as part of the number.

Inquiry

In Inquiry we are continuing to learn about health in the areas of Physical Health, Social Health and Emotional Health. The students will have completed their dioramas by the end of Term 1 which detail connections between family, health and mindfulness.

GEM Chat - take a moment (maybe in the car or at the dinner table) and discuss why empathy is so important at school.
