Dear Level 1 Parents and Families

Well, it's hard to believe, but here we are at the end of Term 1 already. The term has certainly flown!

It's been a great 10 weeks worth of learning. We have loved seeing the Level 1 students thrive, challenge themselves and enjoy their learning.

Thank you all for your support with your child's learning at home and at school. It has been very much appreciated!

We look forward to continuing the adventure next term.

We hope you have a safe and relaxing holiday and Easter break. Please note that we are not issuing formal homework over the holidays but please keep up the amazing home reading and learning.

Enjoy reading the thoughts below of some of our Level 1 students about what they have really liked about school this term:

Charlotte: I have loved maths and learning about subitising.

Leo: I have loved PE because we play Hula Hut Showdown.

Leilani: I love writing and using adjectives in my writing.

Alice: I like assemblies when we sing the National Anthem.

Isla: I have used verbs in my writing and I have liked that.

CharlieT.: I loved doing performances with Mrs. Hall and watching them as well.

Anabelle: I like it when the teachers help us learn.

Jude: I loved the Easter Hat Parade. Walking around was fun.

Katherine: I love reading books and learning Chinese.

Grace: Music has been fun as well as the Easter raffle.

Sam: I have liked doing art and science and hanging out with my teachers.

Oli A.: I have lots of friends in my class and we get to do lots of fun activities.

Savannah:  I have enjoyed having friends and playing in the playscape.

Term 2 Reminders:

Please remember if your child has a lunch order that requires cutlery, the canteen does not supply cutlery, students need to bring their own from home. Thank you.

Please remember that take home books need to be changed every Friday.

Homework will be issued Week 2 of Term 2 via the next newsletter and in homework books.

We encourage students to enjoy a fruit/vegetable snack at 10 am every day. We find this helps the students to stay energised and focused.

To encourage independence in the students, we ask that parents say their goodbyes in the morning at their child's classroom door.

Thank you for your support with this. It helps us enable a smooth transition.

Inquiry Focus: Knowing Me

This week during Inquiry, Year 1 students have been developing valuable strategies to regulate their emotions and return to the Green Zone—a state of calmness, focus, and readiness to learn. They explored techniques such as walking away and counting to ten, practising belly breathing, engaging in physical exercise, and participating in calming activities like drawing. Through hands-on practice, students reflected on how these strategies influenced their emotions and identified which techniques worked best for them. These essential skills will help students manage their feelings more effectively, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
