Congratulations to one and all for a fabulous term of learning in Level 5! Thank you to all families for your support of students learning and wellbeing at home and at school. We look forward to continuing our journey together next term.
Maths
This fortnight, students completed a multiplicative thinking assessment. They also learnt and practiced using rounding to help with addition and subtraction problems. Students will continue to work on these skills next term.
Reading
This fortnight we have completed the final chapters of our novel, War Horse. On Wednesday the students sat in the awesome cinema that Mr Miller had created to watch the movie. On Thursday the students completed a comparison of the novel and the movie.
Writing
The focus this fortnight was on Grammar. Students deepened their understanding of Co-ordinating and subordinating conjunctions. They explored the use of conjunctions, commas and pronouns to create complex sentences. Students also learnt to identify and use stative (mental, emotional, possessive, sense) verbs and adverbs (manner, place, time, frequency). We will continue to engage with these concepts in term 2.
Inquiry
Students worked meticulously on their You Projects this fortnight producing creative and thorough projects. It was a pleasure to see them present their work in front of their teachers and peers. They are to be commended on all their hard work. Anyone who missed presenting this term will have the opportunity to present their projects next term.
A big shout out to the Grade 5 Knitting club leaders - Rose, Zara N, Mali, Lana. They have been excellent role models and compassionate teachers to anyone who has come along to our knitting club - From Mrs. Kapoor.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We wish you a very happy, safe and relaxing break.
Kind Regards,
Grade 5 Team
