This week we have been analysing the book Mallee Sky by Jodie Toering. We have been looking at how the author uses descriptive language, metaphors and similes to tell her story. It has been fabulous to see the students working together to decipher and understand the meaning behind her language use. We look forward to analysing more rich texts next term.

Writing

Narrative writing has been our major focus over the last few weeks. Students have been working on planning, drafting, editing and publishing their writing pieces. They have been learning more tier two and three words in order to make their writing more interesting and enjoyable to the reader. We have also written an "All About Me" poster which we would love to share with families. Students have been writing about their culture and backgrounds and have loved sharing their cultural traditions, flags, food, landmarks and interesting facts. We would love you all to come and have a look!

Numeracy

Place value is the name of this weeks focus!! Naming and recording numbers, making and representing numbers, comparing and ordering numbers and expanding and sequencing numbers. Some students have also been working on place value by incorporating decimals into their learning. We are playing many games instilling this knowledge. Ask your children what they have learned over the past two weeks - test them!!

Harmony Day

Harmony Day was celebrated on March 21. It was a special day that promotes inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for all Australians, regardless of
