We are heading towards the end of our very busy yet fabulous term 1. We would like to thank you all for your kind support throughout the term.
Thank you to the parents who attended the open morning, it was lovely to include you in our morning routines and share our work with you.
Thank you to the parents who joined us for Harmony Day, we had so much fun participating in different cultural activities and getting into the drumming and dancing!
During reading, students were engaged in reviewing and revising the skills they have learnt during the term such as predicting, visualising, making connections, identifying the text types and the author’s purpose etc.
To develop and improve their phonic skills and knowledge, students have been learning and practising long vowels and consonant digraphs sounds such as - th, ng, ph, wh, ai, ay, ee, ea, - -y, igh, ie, oa .
Phonics is recognising and knowing all the sounds that can be made by letters. There are 26 letters in the alphabet, but there are 44 sounds (phonemes). Some letters join to make new sounds.
During writing, students continued to work on their sentence structures by writing simple sentences matching their drawn pictures to write a recount about an event or an activity they had participated in at school or at home. Students have been working hard to understand all the steps involved in a writing process such as
Students have participated in various games and activities based on the concept of number and place value such as Tenzi, Get out of my house, Race to 100 and Four in a row etc. Students have been able to count forward, backward and skip count from a given number and also able to solve mathematical problems by using their number knowledge.
In Inquiry students have learned about how to stay safe online. Students discussed how to create safe passwords, protecting their devices from viruses during downloading games, files etc. They have also learnt about cyberbullying and how to report it

In SEL, students have been using the zones of regulation wall to check in and identify their emotions and energy levels. Students have been able to identify their needs of self-regulation by using the calming tools and strategies such as using a fidget, deep breathing, stretching and mindfulness colouring etc.
The new school start time from this year is 8.35 am in the morning. We would like to encourage you to drop your child to school at 8.35 am daily so they can participate in their Morning Circle activities which is a crucial part of their day.
Books in Homes - Friday 28th March Students will be able to come to school wearing red clothes as we have read a lot of books! Red and read are homophones - words that sound the same but have different spelling and different meanings.
Last day of term 2- Friday 4th April school will end at 2:30pm.
