CSEN Swimming Championship
Primary
Our Primary swim team performed outstandingly at the Primary CSEN Swimming Championship, showcasing incredible dedication, skill, and teamwork.
Congratulations to all students for their hard work in training and competing, giving their absolute best both in the lead-up and on the day. We are thrilled to celebrate our team’s overall victory in B Division, as well as our age group champions in 9 & Under Girls, 10 & Under Boys and Girls, 11 & Under Boys and Girls, and 13 & Under Boys and Girls.
A special shout-out to our standout individual performers: Isabella Clark (1st Breaststroke, 3rd Freestyle), Adriella Ochom (1st Freestyle, 3rd Breaststroke), Zeddy Simmons (2nd Backstroke), and Suwon Nam (3rd Backstroke). Our relay teams also achieved impressive results, with Isabella Clark, Sienah Harrington, Adriella Ochom, and Zeddy Simmons placing 3rd in the 13 & Under Freestyle Relay, and Elston Lo, Ethan Michael, Suwon Nam, and Owen Xu securing 3rd in the 10 & Under Freestyle Relay. Well done to all our swimmers for their determination and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of you!
Below are participants' recounts:
On 21 March, we competed in the CSEN swimming championships. We were surprised when we got there. We did some training and we started with freestyle. We also competed in 50 metres, medley, backstroke, 50 metres freestyle and breaststroke. I was amazed surprise that I got two 3rd place medals and we won all the division in under 10 boys.

When we got there to see all the other schools training, I thought we were going to lose because they were all training well and they looked fast, but then I thought God was with me, so I believed in myself. First, I competed in a medley race, which is a race with four people that includes a backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. I was doing breaststroke, but sadly, we came fourth. Then I got ready for my next race, which was breaststroke. I swam 50 m. It was a little bit nerve-wracking but I was fine. I also had two other races, which was backstroke and relay. We came 3rd! I won one-third metal and I got “king of the pool”.

CSEN Secondary Swimming Championships
On 20 March, a team of 40 talented Secondary students (and some exceptional Primaries) participated in the CSEN Secondary Swimming Championships. In order to do so, they undertook 6 weeks of training - this involved getting to the swimming pool at Monash at 6.30 in the morning for an hour-long swim session, where we worked on endurance, technique and speed. However, it also involved a fabulous breakfast, provided by the Chef and the hospitality students - a great way to refuel for the rest of the school day.
The students weren't the only ones working hard - a big thank you to all the teachers for working to bring out the best in each and every student, and for transporting everyone to school afterwards, as well as to those who came on the day of the event.
When it got to the day, there were some students who were heading to the competition for their first time, while others had competed many times over the years. Upon arriving at the pool, our more experienced students helped show those who were new where to put their things and where to warm up, guiding their peers through the process.
The hard work paid off - Christway Kingston came 2nd in our division, a testament to the hard work of the students and teachers. Special mentions go the Under 14 boys, who came first in their age group; Zeddy Simmons for coming 3rd place in the Under 14's 50 meter backstroke; and Mia-Maree Hart for an impressive 2nd place in the Under 21's 50 meter breaststroke race.
We're all looking forward to next year's competition, where we can further refine the skills we have been developing.
