Mr Trent Chapman, Executive Director, Head of Senior School
Last week, I had the pleasure and privilege of accompanying six Year 9 students as they volunteered with Riding for the Disabled (RDA), a remarkable program that provides therapeutic horse riding experiences for children with disabilities. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and kindness were inspiring to witness, as they worked alongside staff to support both the riders and the smooth operation of the program.
Isla Callaghan, Kate Larkings, Honor McCardell, Frankie Mitchell, Georgia Tancred and Matilda Whiteley represented the School with pride, demonstrating empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to service. They are part of a larger group of 30 Kinross Wolaroi students who, on a rotating roster, volunteer weekly to assist with RDA sessions. Their efforts contribute to the ongoing success of this program, which brings immense joy and valuable therapy to participants.
Service activities like RDA volunteering offer students an opportunity to develop leadership skills, build meaningful connections, and make a real difference in the lives of others. Through programs such as Round Square and The Duke of Edinburgh Award, our students are encouraged to actively engage in service, whether it be within our local community or beyond.
I encourage all students to seek opportunities to give back, challenge themselves, and grow through service. Getting involved is not only rewarding but also an essential part of developing into compassionate, responsible global citizens.
