Stage 2 students had a fantastic time exploring Ku-ring-gai National Park on their recent excursion. At the Kalkari Discovery Centre, they engaged in hands-on learning, using a variety of fieldwork tools to observe and record their findings in a fieldwork journal. Students sketched, mapped and investigated the fascinating invertebrates of the bush.
During the bushwalk, they deepened their understanding of caring for the environment by staying on designated paths and ensuring all rubbish was taken home. Aboriginal connections to the land were also explored as students identified bush resources and learned about the traditional uses of local plants. It was a memorable experience that brought classroom learning to life!
School photographs are being held next Week!!!
If you wish to order photographs please click on the MSP flyer above and follow the instructions.
Students are to wear their Summer uniform for the photographs. Please ensure your child is dressed in correct Summer uniform.
*Specialty Group Photographs and the Year 6 Photograph will be taken in Term 3, once all groups have been established.
This year students in Kindergarten and Stage 1 will have the opportunity to make Easter Hats in their classroom. Our Easter Hat parade will take place on Friday 11 April. More details about the parade will be communicated to parents in the lead up to the event.
Students will be provided with the base of the hat at school. Students will decorate their hats during Week 11 with their peers and teachers. Classroom Teachers will contact the class parent about opportunities for parents to come into the classroom to help with decorations.
Parents are asked to provide their children with decoration materials that can easily attach to cardboard hats with glue. This includes items like foam stickers, feathers and decorative paper. Please see the examples attached.
Students are requested to start bringing in these items from home in preparation for decorating in Week 11.
Students in Stage 2 & 3 are more than welcome to create a hat at home. All students will have the opportunity to show their designs to the whole school community on the day of the parade.
Please see the map for parent view areas below:

Next term, students in Years K-2 as well as our Inclusive Hub will begin the InitiaLit program. InitiaLit is an evidence-based whole-class literacy program providing all children with the essential core knowledge and strong foundations to become successful readers and writers. InitiaLit is a three-year program, covering the first three years of school (Foundation to Year 2).
In the context of a Response to Intervention framework, InitiaLit is a Tier 1 program, designed to be delivered to whole classes by classroom teachers. Over the last couple of weeks, all teachers across K-2 have been trained in this program, ready to roll out in Term 2.
At the beginning of Term 2, specific information for parents will be provided through the Term newsletters.
We are excited to begin this quality program that will support a thorough and consistent instruction across classrooms in each year level, and a reduction in the number of children needing support in higher grades.
Please see the flyers and registration information for an upcoming Webinar on 'Screen Savvy' for Parents & Carers.
