Congratulations to our students, staff and families for quickly settling into new routines as we commence a school year that will be highlighted by the construction of our new gymnasium. Progress continues to move faster than expected, with the old Prep portables to be relocated imminently, before the surface is prepared for the foundations of the building to be laid in coming weeks.

This week our Prep students have joined their older peers in sharing our available yard space. Thank you to all students who have diligently shared our oval space to ensure everyone can play safely. I have engaged in some mature discussions with some of our older students on how to best continue sharing the restricted yard space, and we will continue to adapt our practices around the building project as it progresses.

The support of our community is critical to the success of our school, and we have plenty going on for our community.

  • Our Parents’ Association provide great support to our school, including fundraising for essential school projects and engaging events to build connection and community across the school. The PA, led by our wonderful President Melinda Reid, alongside the brilliant Stephanie Sim, who works alongside Mel from our staff, have outlined the 2026 calendar of events. Key upcoming dates include:
    • Thursday 26th February – Twilight Picnic.
    • Wednesday 4th March – Parents’ Association Annual General Meeting

We hope to see a great turnout at both events, with further information imminent on                 Compass.

  • The 2025 School Council met for the final time earlier this week, with a sincere thanks to the dedicated group who have supported the school across the past twelve months. We will soon commence the process to ask for nominations for the 2026 School Council, again with further information to come via Compass. Please note that there has been an update to the eligibility criteria which require school council members to hold a working with children clearance (WWC clearance – volunteer) or VIT registration.
  • With thanks again to Stephanie Sim, we are in the process of appointing class representatives for each grade in the school. We greatly appreciate the work that the class representatives do to support our school.

I would like to extend an enormous thank you to a wonderful group of our community members for their support last week. Our second-hand uniform shop, which runs with regularity thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, held a ‘working bee’ in the small space they cohabit with drum corps. The area looks outstanding; well-organised and ready to provide a great service to our community. Thank you so much to Ruth Sacks, Leora Lazarus, Illana Greenstein and Adele Karmy for your ongoing contributions to our school, it is greatly appreciated!

Great schools have contributions from broad groups of great people. If you have already put your hand up to support our school in any way, thank you and I hope you can do so again. If you haven’t yet, this is your time!

Thanks for your ongoing support and keep doing your best.
