Our school will be celebrating Harmony Week from 16–22 March. This year’s theme, “Everyone Belongs,” reminds us that our differences make our community stronger and that everyone deserves to feel valued and included. Throughout the week, students will take part in activities that celebrate Australia’s rich cultural diversity. Students are encouraged to wear a touch of orange to show their support for respect, inclusion and belonging.

On the 19th of March we will be weary “touch of orange” and be celebrating with multi age group activities and parade.

Keep an eye on Class Dojo and our socials for more information.

Grade 1/2

This term in Inquiry, our Year 1/2 students have been exploring the seasons by using their senses to observe and describe the weather around us. We have investigated how weather impacts our world and discovered how to identify wind direction and strength by designing and building our own windsocks.

Students have also been learning about how clouds form and how rain falls. In our exciting “rain experiment,” children observed how adding coloured water to shaving cream represented rain building up in clouds before falling to the ground — a wonderful hands-on way to see the water cycle in action!

Our learning has extended beyond our local environment as we explored seasons around the world, with a special focus on the seven Indigenous seasons of the Yorta Yorta. Students are now bringing their knowledge together through a collaborative Seven Seasons mural project. We can’t wait to share our learning with you!

Grade 5/6

Students in Grade 5/6 have begun working with their Reading Fluency partners. Students sit side by side, or across from their partner, and read, one at a time, to each other for 1 minute each. After each child reads their partner offers them feedback about their reading. The task, repeated through the week, helps student to build their ability to read text accurately, quickly and with proper expression acting as a bridge between word recognition and reading comprehension

During one of our recent literacy sessions students were learning about the proper use for a comma and different ways to use them. One task was for students to write a list of items, making sure to place the comma in the correct place.
