Principal's News

Dear Parents/carers,
Volunteer Survey
We invite families to complete the 2026 Event Volunteer Survey, now available in PAM. If you are able to assist with one, some or all of the events planned for this year, we would greatly appreciate your support. Your involvement plays an important role in bringing our school events to life and strengthening our community. We will be looking to create sub committees for some of these events at our School Advisory council meeting tomorrow night.
Allergy Aware School
Sacred Heart, like all schools, has a growing number of children who have a range of food allergies. Some of these are minor and some are significant. In line with best practice, we are now following the guidelines of the Allergy & Anaphylaxis Association of Australia (A&AA)
A&AA does not promote food bans in schools and Child Education and Care (CEC) services. Instead, A&AA promotes an Allergy Aware approach as recommended in the Best Practice Guidelines for preventing and managing anaphylaxis in schools and CEC services. In short, Allergy Aware means having many things in place to reduce the risk of an allergic reaction and to recognise and treat an allergic reaction well when it occurs. I have attached some documentation that outlines our approach, including why food bans don’t work and what our targeted approach looks like.
Attendance
School attendance continues to be a priority for us. Each day a child is at school matters. Learning builds progressively, and even short absences can interrupt that flow of knowledge, confidence and sense of belonging at Sacred Heart. Regular attendance supports not only academic growth, but also friendships, routine and a strong sense of community. We understand that from time to time families may face challenges that make getting to school difficult. If this is the case for your family, please know that we are here to support you. Whether it is working together on practical strategies to make mornings and drop offs smoother, or helping point you towards external support, we are always willing to partner with you to ensure your child can fully engage in their learning.
Reminder
A friendly reminder to all families, Friday 27th February is a student free day - no school
Kind regards,
Karl Dwyer
Principal
