Faith Report

We acknowledged Ash Wednesday this week with House liturgies across both campuses. Ash Wednesday marks the commencement of Lent – the 40 days leading to Easter, the most significant event on the Catholic calendar.
Ash Wednesday begins the Lenten journey, a season that invites reflection, renewal and an opportunity to think of others. For our College, this is closely linked to our Term 1 fundraising efforts for Caritas Australia.
During our House liturgies, students and staff were marked with the symbol of the cross
on their foreheads using ashes. This ritual encourages us to acknowledge our poor choices and focus on what we can do to grow, to change and to positively influence others. It is not about dwelling on mistakes, but rather recognising them and learning from them.
Throughout the Lenten period, it is important that we remind one another of the integral role that kindness plays in a world where we so often hear of violence and destruction. Our students are encouraged to be people for others – to stand up when something is not right, to listen to the cries of the poor, to welcome new members into our College and to actively engage in our community and all that it offers.
May Lent be a time when we are conscious of our words and our actions – redirecting them so that our words speak loudly of kindness and our actions reflect a loving care for one another.
