Defence Club Update – Busy and Creative Start!

It has been a busy and exciting couple of weeks in Defence Club, filled with creativity, connection, and fun. With Swimming Sports held on the 17th of February, there was no Defence Club on that day, but we have certainly made up for it with lots of engaging activities.

Our focus recently has been on creative connection through games and crafts. One of the highlights was our Taylor Swift Music Bingo, which brought lots of laughter and new friendships as students connected through music. Congratulations to our Bingo winners — Alivia, Madi, and Jorja!

Craft time has centred around war animals, as we prepare to recognise Purple Poppy Day on the 24th of February, honouring the important role animals have played in supporting our soldiers. Students have enjoyed designing and creating their own animal-themed crafts while learning about their service and sacrifice.

Our wonderful Defence Captains, Alana and Axl, have been supporting students and creating a welcoming environment. They will be announcing the winners of our Colouring Competition next Thursday, which students have been eagerly anticipating.

It has been fantastic to see students building friendships, supporting one another, and enjoying Defence Club as a safe and welcoming space. Thank you to all our Defence families for your continued support.

Invitation: Keith Payne VC, AM Visit

Families are warmly invited to attend a special commemorative event on Wednesday 11 March, commencing at 11.30am, featuring Keith Payne VC, AM, one of Australia’s most highly decorated veterans.

As part of the 77th Anniversary of the NSL Lines, Keith Payne will take part in a walk-and-talk tour of the Vietnam Veterans Walk, sharing reflections on his time in Vietnam, the significance of his medals, and the importance of service and remembrance. He will be joined by John Phoenix OAM.

This visit is especially significant, as it will be Keith Payne’s final visit to our area and his last opportunity to present locally.

If you or your child would like to attend this meaningful experience, please let me know so numbers can be confirmed and arrangements finalised.
