Dear Saltwater Community,
As another week draws to a close, our student leaders have been fostering house spirit and promoting unity.
Yesterday, on Thursday, May 9th, 2024, we launched House Colour Day. We were thrilled to see everyone dressed in their respective house colours, displaying their utmost house spirit. Students showcased their enthusiasm through various outfits, such as wearing hats, tutus, face paint, and other accessories. Before the day, we encouraged all students to contribute a gold coin donation towards our fundraising efforts to purchase a volleyball and tennis net for the school.
The day was filled with respectful competitions to earn points for each house. The exciting events included tug of war, egg spoon races, scavenger hunts, and bean bag toss. We were surprised by the turnout, everyone came to play. We all had a great time.
This term we started a special competition which is the House vs House basketball competition, and the Student vs Teacher basketball competition. We started with a whole house shooting competition, where we had 5 minutes to shoot as many goals as we could. As student leaders, it was great to see everyone having a go and having fun together as a united house.
The second competition was the Student vs Teacher basketball game. Everyone wanted to play, to beat the teachers and to get extra points. There were many laughs and some very good goals. Unfortunetly, the only house to beat the teachers was Vander-Kuyp House. We can't wait for the next one.
This year the House Captains are excited to launch the Head of House for the first time. We sent out emails to all the teachers in every house colour. They were required to write an application if they were keen to be head of house for their timetable. The teachers who were interested in applying replied to our email answering the application questions.
We have selected 8 heads of Head of House for each house colour with two per timetable. The teachers who were successfully accepted as head of house are...
Congratulations to all chosen applicants!
